The beautiful scenic county of East Lothian lies to the East of the City of Edinburgh. With its long coastline and rolling countryside it really is a million miles from city living and almost certainly why more and more people are choosing to look at East Lothian for their next property. In addition, to the west of the town, there are the wide open sands of Belhaven Bay with superb stretches of beaches and coastal walks which form part of the John Muir Country Park named after Dunbar’s most famous son. Leisure facilities include: - a sports complex, indoor swimming and fitness centre. Dunbar has its own main line railway station providing regular train services too and from Scotland’s capital city of Edinburgh. The A1 is only a few minutes’ drive away giving excellent road links to Edinburgh, the International Airport and other areas of central Scotland. Dunbar lies approximately 28 miles from Edinburgh and 28 miles from the English Border town of Berwick-upon-Tweed.
Over the years Dunbar has grown from what was a relatively small town up until the 1960’s, when most of the more recent development commenced, to a substantial commuter town. Dunbar can now offer property ranging from old listed buildings to the most modern of developments and can cater for most tastes and will almost certainly have a property style and location to suit almost everyone. Property prices in the town and surrounding areas have historically been lower than that of the capital and given that Dunbar is still considered a commuter town to Edinburgh your budget can go much further here.
